"This does not look like an arrest to us, this is a kidnapping," Fawad Chaudhry's wife Hiba Fawad said on reports that her husband, a senior PTI leader and former federal minister, had been arrested some hours ago.
Earlier, PTI leader Farrukh Habib tweeted that the police had arrested Fawad Chaudhry from his residence in Lahore.
"Nobody has shown us any FIR. Around 8 to 10 policemen forcibly opened the gate of our house, entered the residence and took him away."
She told a private news channel that the family had no idea which agency had taken Fawad Chaudhry into custody, or where he had been taken. "We are extremely worried. At least tell us under what rule [or law] he has been picked up," she pleaded, adding that "four police vehicles came for him, they took him and they are gone now. Nobody has told us anything."
It may be recalled that Fawad Chaudhry, along with PTI chairman Imran Khan and senior PTI leader Asad Umar, have been sought in contempt proceedings by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for which their arrest warrants were issued earlier this month.
