Khurram Nisar, the son of a former bureaucrat, who on Monday was suspected of killing a policeman in Karachi, has reportedly issued a video statement claiming he acted in 'self-defence'.
In a report by Geo News, the suspect Khurram Nisar, who fled to Sweden after the unfortunate incident took place, has released a video statement from Sweden saying he opened fire on Abdur Rehman the policeman because he mistook him for a kidnapper as he was in plain clothes.
He claimed that he sensed danger when the policeman instructed him to take the car somewhere other than the police station. Nisar said that police personnel had tried to kill him inside the car, but the bullet got stuck in the chamber of his pistol.
He said that he was being threatened by the policeman, who allegedly said that he was going to kill him, which is why he acted in self-defence and shot him. Nisar also said that his brother-in-law didn't know what had happened, and that he had asked him to bring his documents from the house.
Surveillance footage from Monday night shows a black car parked in a street in a residential area in Karachi’s DHA. Khurram Nisar and Abdur Rehman, both armed, got out of the car, and appeared to have a heated exchange, after which Nisar shot Abdur Rehman and drove off.
On Wednesday it was reported that Nisar, who has Swedish citizenship, had reportedly fled to Sweden using his Swedish passport. His parents have reportedly disowned him.
