'No Elections Until Imran Gives Establishment Some Guarantees'
There won't be any elections until PTI chairman Imran Khan gives establishment a few guarantees, such as he won't attempt to alter the tenure of the COAS and Chief Justice, says Haider Waheed.

The law expert told Khabar Say Aagay host Raza Rumi that the guarantees may include Imran's word that he will not put his political opponents into jails.

He, however, ruled out a martial law, saying the institution that could do so is facing a storm itself. World powers, too, don't have an interest in Pakistan at the moment.

Waheed pointed that the former premier's narrative was at play for a long time, but the government has succeeded in getting its point across.

The Supreme Court, he maintained, seems to have taken a step back and it has several reasons. The top court would now want to dismiss the election case, and support a unanimous decision of the parties on the polling date.

Another law expert Raza Rahman seconded the opinion that by urging the political parties to hold talks, the apex court has taken a step back.

The media and everyone else are focused on the political and judicial crises, and no one is talking about inflation, unemployment, and the worsening situation. "As of now, we are in the midst of a storm."

Analyst Murtaza Solangi said that he doesn't see elections taking place before October, which Imran will still feel fortunate about.

He added that the other members of the CJ-led bench didn't raise any question at today's hearing, and termed it meaningful.

Earlier today, CJ Umar Ata Bandial reiterated his call to the ruling alliance and the opposition to hold joint talks on elections for the sake of the Constitution.

During the hearing of the polls delay case, he urged everyone to sit together for the sake of Constitution.
