'Get Ready For Jail Bharo Tehreek', Imran Khan Tells Party Workers
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf chief Imran Khan on Saturday announced to launch a 'jail bharo tehreek', saying he would make a formal announcement in this regard soon.

Addressing his supporters via video link, the former premier told party's leaders and workers to wait for his call to initiate the movement.

According to Imran, this campaign would convey to the ruling coalition who people will side with.

On the occasion, he accused the ruling party of using tactics to delay general elections, saying he never came across an interim government which was 'busy in targeting political rivals'.
He suspected “powerful quarters” behind the "tactics of intimidation" to hinder the dissolution of Punjab Assembly.

The ex-PM had a similar movement in October last year to pressure the government to announce snap polls. Also, during the 2014 sit-in, he had asked his supporters to launch a civil disobedient movement.

'Political mileage'

Imran opined during his address that the rulers wanted to use the new tide of terrorism to gain certain "political mileage" to their advantage.

He held Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif responsible for a rise in the incidents of terrorism in the country.

'Treason'

During his address, the PTI chief warned the ruling lot against any move to delay the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa polls.

He revealed that he was advised against the assemblies' dissolution, but he did so keeping in view that the Constitutions requires the elections to be carried out within 90 days of the move.

He suspected “powerful quarters” behind the "tactics of intimidation" to hinder the dissolution of Punjab Assembly.

Imran went on to say that, "After passage of 90 days, Article 6 will be applied to those who're part of the caretaker setup, in case polls aren't held."

Furthermore, during a separate meeting with former Punjab CM Parvez Elahi, Imran blamed “some other people” for the recent arrests of PTI leaders.
Imran, in his letter, had also urged the presidency to take notice of 'abductions, custodial torture, and threats' being meted out to party workers and leaders.

On Thursday, Imran asked President Dr Arif Alvi to take notice of the “brazen interference by intelligence agencies and some other sections of the establishment in the political sphere.”

The former premier conveyed his concerns to the presidency in a letter dated January 29, 2023.

The most recent reflection of this, he had said, was the KP Governor’s statement saying he cannot give a date for the polls as “that would be given by the intelligence agencies and the establishment.”

Imran, in his letter, had also urged the presidency to take notice of 'abductions, custodial torture, and threats' being meted out to party workers and leaders.

On Wednesday, he expressed concerns at the letter sent by KP governor to ECP regarding the election schedule, alleging ‘those in power’ wanted to use the law and order situation to delay polls.
