It was reported by Daily Jang (19 June 2017) that an ex-SP of the Railway Police, who claimed to have investigated the Sharif family on charges of money laundering and sought to appear in the JIT as a witness, turned out to have been under NAB investigation himself in 2002, an absconder and a beneficiary of the NRO.
Life in the wrong lane
According to Daily Jang (19 June 2017), a Supervisory Specialist of the US embassy was driving in the wrong direction in a one-way lane, in a state of intoxication. He reportedly rammed into three cars, including two police vehicles. The SHO Aabpara police station stated that he was allowed to go, and the embassy has promised to pay for the damaged vehicles.
A raid gone awry
In Sheikhupura, it was reported by Daily Jang (20 June 2017), a team of the Punjab Food Authority came under attack from the alleged owners of a large stockpile of guttka. The report stated that local police, present on the scene, failed to intervene to protect the PFA staff and in fact remained silent spectators of the violence. Locals who participated in a protest alleged that the PFA team had violated chaader and chaar-deewari (traditional privacy and seclusion) by wrongfully entering premises where nothing was to be found.
“Landa bazaar”
It was reported in Daily Jang (20 June 2017) that the PPP’s Senator Saeed Ghani expressed the view that the PTI is a flea market (landa bazaar) consisting of government officials expelled from service due to corruption, generally corrupt elements and political runaways (siyasi bhagoray).
Regretful Rishi
Film actor and director Rishi Kapoor, according to Daily Dunya (21 June 2017), in the context of his earlier remarks about Father’s Day and the Pakistan-India cricket match, stated that he had been wrong, and that the matter had been blown out of proportion. He spoke of his love for Pakistanis and of his wish that Pakistani players be included in the Indian Premier League. He also stated that he had been entirely wrong about the match, and that he admitted defeat.
Frayed tempers
According to Daily Jang (21 June 2017), after defeat against Pakistan in the final match of the Champions Trophy, as the Indian team was returning to the pavilion, Pakistani fans shouted remarks along the lines of “Who is the father?” etc. The rest of the team remained silent but Muhammad Shami was enraged and advanced on the Pakistani fans in anger, but was stopped by M. S. Dhoni from clashing with them.
Holy wrath?
It was reported by Daily Jang (21 June 2017) that the administration of a religious institution in Islamabad attacked a camera team which was attempting to provide coverage. Reportedly, a cameraman ended up in hospital and police have made arrests.
Gliding goodies
The PTI’s Ali Amin Gandapur, according to a report in Daily Express (22 June 2017), declared that he would distribute Eid gifts (Eidi) among the people of his electoral constituency from the air, using a glider aircraft.
“No toys”
Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb was quoted by Daily Express (23 June 2017) as saying that the PTI is a party of sticks, drama and spectacles (Danda, Drama aur Tamasha). She described PTI leader Imran Khan’s activities as antics (tamasha), and predicted that he would get neither a toy, nor would he see that finger raised which he sought.

Daily Express (24 June 2017) stated that due to financial difficulties, film star Meera had decided to buy only three new sets of clothes for Eid.
