Our favourite

The flop show of the great oil discovery that was to transform Pakistan’s fortunes in a fortnight, has spawned a million jokes on the internet.

Our favourite (with apologies to our foreign readers):

“Samundar say tel na nikalnay par, Youthias ka sahil-e-Samundar pay dharna.

‘Go Samundar Go!’ kay naaray,

Kal Samundar ki NAB mein peshi mutavaqqay,

Buhira-e-Arab ka naam ECL mein daal diya gaya,

Vazir-e-Azam Imran Khan ka Samundar ko NRO denay say inkaar.”

Mother of all Iftars

While the Opposition iftar, hosted by Billy The Kid in Isloo, was making headlines all over the country, another momentous but discreet iftar was happening in the twin city. This, the Mother of All Iftars, was hosted by You-Know-Who for a clutch of media barons. Even though some of them were tripping over themselves to be more loyal than the king, they weren’t spared the rod. The headmaster read out the riot act, waved his swagger stick and promised them the sweetest benders should they step out of line.

The two heirs

There were two silent spectators at the Opposition’s iftar, and they were Talented Bro’s son and the late, lamented Big Ben’s Hubby. The latter was happy to see his son in the starring role. It was also clear, from the apparent warmth between the two heirs that they are frequently in communication. We hear they use the latest apps, as yet inaccessible for the spooks.
