COAS Bajwa And Wife Visit Ailing Musharraf In Dubai
Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa and his wife recently visited ailing former president Pervez Musharraf in Dubai, accompanied by top physicians from Pakistan.

According to a report by the Express Tribune, the COAS and his wife were greeted by Musharraf and his family with great delight.

The army chief spent some time with Musharraf and his family at their apartment while the army physicians examined the former military ruler.

Musharraf is suffering from amyloidosis, a rare disease caused by a build-up of an abnormal protein called amyloid in organs and tissues throughout the body, according to his family.

The build-up of amyloid proteins (deposits) can make it difficult for the organs and tissues to work properly. His family had said that recovery is no longer possible at this stage.

Earlier, Director-General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Babar Iftikhar had said that the leadership of the army is of the opinion that Musharraf should be allowed to return to Pakistan in light of his illness.

“In such a situation the institution and leadership’s stance is that Pervez Musharraf should return,” he had said.

He had added that while the military believes that the former military dictator should return to Pakistan, the final call on his return would be made by his family.

Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif had said that if Musharraf wants to return to Pakistan, the government should facilitate the latter.
