Reported in Dunya (March 20, 2015) an exam superintendent in Lahore was suspended for letting 9th grade students cheat in their board exams in exchange for mobile phone credit (easyload).

According to Jang (March 20, 2015) policemen in Karachi baton-charged their colleagues (paityband bhai) who were protesting to complain that they hadn’t been paid their salaries. Several of them were arrested.

Rs 500,000 rooster stolen and eaten

Chichawatni police has filed a case against two men who stole a rooster worth half a million rupees and ate it, Nai Baat reports (March 21, 2015). The bird’s owner said it was an expensive gamecock.

A case of missing bullet wounds

Nawa-e-Waqt reports (March 21, 2015) a lawyer arrived at a hospital in Karachi in an ambulance claiming he had been hit by a bullet. He was taken to the emergency ward and the doctors began to look for a bullet, but couldn’t find one. His shirt was torn but there was no bullet wound. Police said he was wanted in a murder case and lied to flee a court hearing.

Laborers mistaken for terrorists

According to Dunya (March 22, 2015) girls at a college in Mansehra and jumped down from the second and third floors after a terrorist attack scare. Police came running (dorrain lag gai) but cleared the building after a search. It was found later that laborers working on a construction project on the campus dropped something that caused a loud bang when it fell. When they came to pick it up, they had covered their faces. When the girls looked at them, they began to scream (cheekh-o-pukar), causing a citywide scare.

Minister’s breaking news leaked before press conference

Nawa-e-Waqt claims (March 22, 2015) the Pakistani mission at the United Nations tricked the federal minister for science and technology (mamu bana diya). They invited him to New York to address an urgent press conference to claim credit for the expansion of Pakistan’s maritime boundary, but by then the foreign office had already leaked the news to the local channels.

Donkey hide!

According to an Express survey (March 23, 2015), the real reason behind the recent rise in donkey thefts is that their hide is very expensive. It is smuggled to China where they use it to make an aphrodisiac among other thing. Sometimes their meat is also sold by butchers.

Lahore police will crack down on indecent couples

Reported in Lahore (March 23, 2015) police will start a crackdown on couples who behave indecently (fohash harkaat) at juice shops in Lahore’s Qila Gujjar Singh locality.

Drug dealer fools greedy police

A drug dealer in Lahore ran away from police custody after they agreed to take him out so he could get the Rs 50,000 he promised them as a bribe, Dunya reports (March 24, 2015). He jumped into a drain on the way.

Nawa-e-Waqt reports (March 24, 2015) dozens of young men stormed into the railway sleeper factory in Khanewal, tied the hands of the staff, and fled with copper wire worth Rs 10 million.

Adjournment motion against vulgar music in buses

Reported in Express (March 25, 2015) a member of Punjab Assembly from the PML-Q submitted an adjournment motion for the house to discuss vulgar (bayhooda) music and movies played in buses and vans. It calls for a ban on playing music and music in public transport.

Seven-year-old accused of abducting 30-year-old

A seven year old boy in Gujrat has been accused of kidnapping a 30 year old man, reports Jang (March 25, 2015).  He also robbed him of his mobile phone and cash.
